About Raveling Dixie

mary yeager, raveling dixie ownerWelcome to Raveling Dixie! Born and raised in Mississippi, I found myself transplanted to Oklahoma City in February 2012. My husband and two girls keep me on my toes and very busy. From working for myself and assisting with their Girl Scout troop as an associate leader, it’s definitely a crazy coaster ride. Oh what a thrill!

Crafting has always been a huge hobby of mine. Just making things with my own two hands and filling my house with goods made by me gives me the feeling of warmth inside. Though life can be very chaotic with two young girls at hand, I take the time to work on my writing, my crafts, and my home as best I can. It isn’t always easy either, but I try.

Most things that I do, I learned myself by reading tutorials and watching videos online. I started out by learning to cross-stitch when I was just a teenager. As I reached adulthood, I decided that I wanted to learn how to crochet. I had watched my grandmother always crocheting up a variety of items from afghans to sweaters growing up. Since I deal with a good deal of stress and anxiety, I found quickly that crochet helped me to relax. I found that I wanted to share my crafts with those not near me, thus Raveling Dixie was born.

Aside from cross-stitching and crocheting, I am also learning to sew. I am also an avid DIY’er. I love seeing my home transform by something put together through my own time, sweat, and sometimes tears. It’s truly more of an accomplishment to make something rather than purchase a lesser quality item at a store.

Outside of crafting, I have a love of design and writing. I work as a graphic/web designer and freelance writer. All print-ables and other design items found here were designed solely by me.
